Role Summary

The Supply Planning Manager plays a critical role in balancing supply and demand within a complex, constraint-based environment. This role leads and develops the Supply Planning team while ensuring the effective creation of mid‑ to long‑term production plans aligned with capacity, labor, maintenance schedules, working capital, inventory strategies, and business priorities.


The Supply Planning Manager collaborates extensively with Manufacturing, Scheduling, Demand Planning, Inventory Planning, Material Planning, Finance, Customer Service, and Logistics to secure data accuracy, maintain service levels, and prevent supply disruptions. This position also drives continuous improvement in planning tools, processes, and supply chain KPIs.

What can you expect as a Supply Planning Manager at Scandinavian Tobacco Group? Your primary tasks will include:

 

End-to-End Supply Planning & S&OP Participation

  • Develop mid‑ and long‑term production plans based on demand plans, factory capacity, labor, line rates, maintenance, holidays, and capital installations.
  • Participate in S&OP Supply Reviews, preparing scenarios and presenting planning options.
  • Collaborate closely with Manufacturing and Scheduling to identify bottlenecks, excess capacity, and opportunities for optimal resource allocation.
  • Review and update plant capacities and develop production strategies to improve service levels, capacity utilization, and inventory health.

 

Inventory Management & Performance Control

  • Support inventory planning for finished goods production and analyze shortages or expiring components to reduce waste.
  • Monitor inventory performance against targets, shelf life, and alignment with production schedules.
  • Create, maintain, and monitor supply chain KPIs to drive business improvements.
  • Aggregate and disseminate timely reports and communications to stakeholders.

 

Planning Tools, Systems & Continuous Improvement

  • Identify, design, and enhance planning tools, processes, and system logic to strengthen end‑to‑end planning performance.
  • Facilitate new product introductions and product discontinuations in coordination with relevant stakeholders and within ERP systems.
  • Review finished goods for customer order shortages and collaborate with Customer Service, Manufacturing, and Logistics on resolution.
  • Continuously improve planning tools, capabilities, and workflow efficiency.

 

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with Demand Planning, Inventory Planning, Material Planning, Manufacturing, Finance, and Customer Service to maintain data accuracy and prevent supply chain disruptions.
  • Cooperate with the Scheduling team responsible for finite scheduling across multiple plants, ensuring alignment with capacity, financial, and inventory objectives.
  • Develop strong relationships with key stakeholders to support planning decisions.

 

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in end‑to‑end supply chain roles.
  • Minimum 3 years of leadership experience.
  • Experience with S&OP and S&OE processes.
  • Experience working with ERP and planning systems such as SAP, o9, or similar.

 

Technical Knowledge

  • Strong understanding of planning processes: demand planning, supply planning, inventory planning, product portfolio planning, MRP, and S&OP.
  • Knowledge of supply chain flexibility, capacity constraints, and associated costs.
  • Strong analytical skills: quantitative and qualitative analysis, KPI interpretation, and scenario building.
  • Ability to interpret and present complex data findings using planning tools and ERP systems.

 

Leadership Skills

  • Strong communication skills, able to simplify complex topics for decision‑makers.
  • Proven capability in coaching, performance management, and team development.
  • Ability to manage conflict with diplomacy and maintain influence.
  • Strong prioritization skills and a proactive approach to continuous improvement.
  • High attention to detail and strong process orientation.

 

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Advanced degree or supply chain certifications (APICS CPIM, CSCP) are preferred.

 

Additional Qualifications

  • Experience building or improving planning processes and tools.
  • Experience generating and monitoring supply chain KPIs.
  • Strong stakeholder‑management and cross‑functional collaboration skills.
